Introduction:
Aloha!
Dear friends and family, thank you all for coming to the beautiful island of Maui, Hawai’i to share in this wonderful occasion, as __ and __ unite in marriage as husband/wife, husband/husband, wife/wife.
As we reflect on the deep adoration __ and __ have for one another, I wish to share a short poem that demonstrates their everlasting commitment for their future as husband/wife, husband/husband, wife/wife.
Short Reading:
(Continue reading if the couple chooses to have a ceremony reading. If not, skip to the next section.)
Example:
“My heart can be your home, my soul can be your refuge.
You can turn to me when you are weak, you can call to me when the way is not clear.
I will be your promise and your prayer, I will always be there, constant and complete.
Run to me, reach out for me, and I will love you in a unique and tender way.
Bring your love to me, share your love with me, sing your love to me, and I will offer you peace, ease and comfort.”
- Devoted, Charles Ghigna
Declaration of Intent and Standard Wedding Vows:
(Continue reading for Declaration of Intent and Standard Wedding Vows. This section will differ if the couple chooses to present their own personal wedding vows.)
I now ask __ and __ to officially make their commitment to their marriage.
Officiant to First Partner:
Do you take __ to be your infinite husband/wife/partner, in faithful love and adornment as long as you both shall live?
First Partner: “I do.”
Officiant to Second Partner:
Do you take __ to be your infinite husband/wife/partner, in faithful love and adornment as long as you both shall live?
Second Partner: “I do.”
Ring Exchange and Short Wedding Vows:
(Rings are handed to the couple either by one of the two partners or a trusted family member or friend in the audience.)
Officiant to Congregation:
The rings you exchange today are a physical embodiment of the love you two share today and every day into eternity. They represent your continual commitment made today and the devotion of one’s self to your partner forever.
Throughout all your times, when you look at your rings, remember this feeling you have right now, and never let that go. For on this day and every day forward, your love is boundless.
And now, I ask __ and __ to repeat after me as they exchange these precious symbols.
(Officiant asks each partner to repeat after them as they place the ring on their partner’s finger.)
Officiant to First Partner:
I give you this ring as a token of my love for you above all others. With this ring, I am yours.
First Partner: “I give you this ring as a token of my love for you above all others. With this ring, I am yours.”
Officiant to Second Partner:
I give you this ring as a token of my love for you above all others. With this ring, I am yours.
Second Partner: “I give you this ring as a token of my love for you above all others. With this ring, I am yours.”
Pronouncement and Recessional:
By honor of the authority entrusted to me, under the laws of the state of Hawai’i, I now pronounce you husband/wife, husband/husband, wife/wife!
You may now kiss!
It is my esteemed privilege to announce for the first time as newlyweds, __ and __!
